PT Industri Kereta Api or PT INKA (Persero) is the first integrated state-owned enterprise (BUMN) for railway manufacturing in Southeast Asia. Established in 1981, PT INKA (Persero) is committed to providing high-quality, innovative, and sustainable land transportation solutions. Our focus is on producing high-quality products and services for our customers. We offer a wide range of products to meet customer needs, along with after-sales support to ensure that customers receive the best quality products. Our products have been exported to various countries, including Bangladesh, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and Australia.
In accordance with the Company's Articles of Association, the purpose of PT INKA (Persero) is to support government policies and programs in the fields of economics and national development, particularly in the railway industry and transportation. We aim to optimize the use of the Company's resources to produce high-quality, competitive goods and services while pursuing profits to enhance the Company's value, applying the principles of a limited liability company.

With the enactment of Law No. 40 of 2007 on Limited Liability Companies, amendments to the Company's Articles of Association were made, recorded in the notarial deed of Lenny Janis Ishak, SH No. 26 dated June 25, 2008. Based on the notarial deed No. 08 dated February 22, 2010, the Company's authorized capital was set at IDR 800 billion, with paid-up capital amounting to IDR 251.84 billion. The latest amendment, based on the notarial deed No. 17 dated April 12, 2017, set the authorized capital at IDR 5 trillion and paid-up capital at IDR 1.2 trillion.

The headquarters of PT INKA (Persero) is located on Jalan Yos Sudarso, Madiun, East Java. The presence of the headquarters, which also serves as a railway manufacturing plant that was formerly the Balai Yasa of the Railway Office (PJKA), spans an area of 22.5 hectares and bears witness to the long journey of PT INKA (Persero) as the first and largest state-owned enterprise (BUMN) manufacturing railway facilities in Southeast Asia (ASEAN).
In addition to its base in Madiun, PT INKA (Persero) has a representative office in Jakarta to enhance its proximity to stakeholders and policymakers. To stay close to its main customer, which is its "older sibling," PJKA (now PT Kereta Api (Persero)), a representative office is also established in Bandung, West Java.
PT INKA (Persero) celebrates its anniversary every August 29. Formally, PT INKA (Persero) was established on May 18, 1981, with the operational handover of the railway plant from PJKA to the management of PT INKA (Persero) occurring on August 29, 1981. This date is recorded as the birthdate of PT INKA (Persero).
At its inception, PT INKA (Persero) was under the technical supervision of the Ministry of Transportation. In 1983, its oversight was transferred to the Strategic Industry Advisory Board (DPIS). By 1989, it came under the management of the Strategic Industry Management Agency (BPIS). In 1998, it was overseen by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises. That same year, PT INKA (Persero) became a subsidiary of the holding company PT Bahana Pakarya Industri Strategis (BPIS). Following the dissolution of PT BPIS in 2002, PT INKA (Persero) has been managed by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises to this day.
